The Civic League for Regional Atlanta is an independent, non-partisan, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization whose mission is to make the Atlanta region a better place by building the knowledge, involvement, voice and power of our citizens. The objective of The Civic League is to address important issues of regional significance by building consensus, advocating for the greater public interest, and developing social capital in the Atlanta region.

The Civic League was formed in late 2005 through a merger of three organizations with distinguished pedigrees: Research Atlanta, a think tank created to study public policy problems; The Atlanta Metro Group, an organization focused on quality of governance; and The Regional Leadership Forum, a regionally-based group focused on creating an infrastructure for civic engagement.

The evening will begin with a social hour and cocktail buffet at 6:00 p.m. followed by a program with Matt Towery as featured speaker and the presentation of awards for regional excellence. A Founders Award will be given to an individual who has made a significant contribution of vision, leadership and action to affect positive change in the Atlanta region. This award is named in honor of three leaders whose vision inspired the creation of The Civic League: Harry West, former Director of ARC; the late George Busbee, former Governor of Georgia, and the late Manuel Maloof, former CEO of DeKalb County and Chairman of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). There will be four Civic Leadership Awards given to individuals, organizations or initiatives that demonstrate extraordinary commitment to creating a better Atlanta region.
